#OneOakHarbor Strategic Plan
During the 2023-2024 school year, the #OneOakHarbor community came together to develop our new Strategic Plan. The process centered on student perspectives on their experience in Oak Harbor Public Schools.

Imagine if every student in our schools could say they are valued and understood, taking risks in their learning and succeeding academically, and Oak Harbor believes in them and their future. Our new Strategic Plan is paving the path for this vision of the student experience in our schools. Hear from our students about what that looks and feels like for them and how you can make a difference as part of the #OneOakHarbor community.

Learn more about our Strategic Plan on our website or click the button below to hear our Vision of the Student Experience from students.

School Safety
As we mentioned last week, our district has adopted The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff will be training, practicing, and drilling the protocol.

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on an all-hazards approach as opposed to individual scenarios. Like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP utilizes clear common language while allowing for flexibility in protocol.

In the 2023-2024 school year, we implemented a new cell phone policy that restricts student use during class but makes clear exceptions for emergencies. With the adoption of the SRP, both staff and students will be trained on the proper use of cell phones in emergency situations. They will be instructed to text family members when it is safe and to provide regular updates throughout the duration of the emergency event.

Peachjar Flyers
Oak Harbor Public Schools works with a service provider, called Peachjar, to post digital community and school-based flyers electronically via email. Flyers are distributed once a week to families on Tuesday afternoons with a user experience that has been updated from previous years which includes:

  • Customized Engagement: Parents and Guardians can now customize their experience to hone in on the activities and information best suited for their family.
  • Enhanced Organization: Benefit from distinctly organized School and Community tabs, along with Categorized Flyerboards.
In alignment with school board policy, paper copies of community flyers or announcements are not accepted or distributed.
