Gwen Miller Selected as New Student Board Representative

The Oak Harbor Public Schools School Board appointed Oak Harbor High School sophomore Gwen Miller as its newest student representative during this week's school board meeting!

"I was originally drawn to the position because I felt I could provide a voice to our schools and I would love to speak up for the smaller voices, " said Miller during her interview. She also shared that one of her goals as a student board representative would be to address mental health support and resources for students.

We want to thank our six student finalists Sophia Burdick, Lindann Chastain, Grace Zhao, Calleigh Boyer and Kailynn LaRue for sharing their perspectives during the interview selection process. You made it a hard decision for our school board members!

2nd Grade Field Trip to NAS Whidbey Island

Oak Harbor Elementary students had so much fun at their NAS Whidbey Island field trip! They learned about the P8 from VP-4 and the Growler from VAQ-140. They had the privilege of seeing the inside of the P8 and sitting in the cockpit and learning about their mission and purpose. They then walked on the flight line over to the Patriots where they tried on gear, learned about the Growler. It was a very eye-opening experience for our young students to see such an important piece of our community.
